Why do I do the things I do?

“IF YOU’RE TEACHABLE…IT’S FIXABLE!”

Do you wonder if life could be better?

Let’s be honest-we have all had something in our past that has kept us from living life to its fullest. What do we do? We make the best of things, and we try not to focus on the negative or traumatic events. We keep a stiff upper lip and “git’er done”. We have all learned to cope with the emotional pain that resulted from those experiences. Some of us have tried to soothe that pain with drugs, alcohol, or by engaging in sexual excesses. Instead of these, others find ways to cope by using distractions such as becoming a relationship addict, a workaholic, becoming overly involved in social causes, or by filling every available minute with church activities.

Here’s the truth: Whatever keeps you from your pain has become your default coping mechanism. That coping mechanism may have kept you alive and functional, but it will never allow you to have the life you’ve always wanted. Coping and soothing can never create the kind of relationships you yearn to have.

But what if there was a proven way to process all of that stuff one time, and break its control over you? Here’s the GOOD NEWS…if you’re teachable…it’s all fixable!

So Far, We Have Helped Over 200,000 People…Let Us Help You.

Life Skills International was founded in 1985 by Dr. Paul and Judy Hegstrom. Paul spent over 35,000 hours searching for answers as to why his life was full of anger and self-sabotage. The “Learning to Live, Learning to Love” © curriculum is a result of Dr. Paul’s search for healing. He and Judy began sharing his miraculous recovery with others, and to date, Life Skills (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization) has helped over 200,000 people learn why they do the things they do. Today, the program continues to provide a process that helps students develop key character traits that establish healthy foundations for living and loving.
Following Dr. Hegstrom’s death in 2017, his daughter Heidi (Hegstrom) Stupavsky was selected to lead the organization as President and CEO. The Life Skills Program is still presented by LSI trained Facilitators at our Affiliate Centers in more than twenty states.
